The 6th Annual Melrose Community Iftar Celebration

Saturday, March 30, 2024 @ 6:00–8:00 pm at Melrose Memorial Hall (590 Main Street, Melrose, MA 02176)

The Melrose Human Rights Commission, in collaboration with the Peace Islands Institute Boston, hosted the 6th Annual Melrose Community Iftar Celebration. Iftar is the daily sunset meal to break the fast during the month of Ramadan. The event was open to the public and all were welcome.

Program:

• 5:45 p.m. – Doors Open
• 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. – Activities for children (face painting, henna painting, etc.) and a speaking program on Ramadan experiences from different cultures and countries
• 6:30 – 6:45 p.m. – Sufi Whirling Dervish Performance (Semazen)
• 6:45 – 6:50 p.m. – Athan ("call to prayer") at sunset
• 6:50 p.m. – Iftar ("breaking the fast") Dinner
• 8:00 p.m. – The event concludes

Suggested donation at the door: $20 per family.
