Celebrating Ramadan

Jack Satter House hosted an event called "Celebrating Ramadan" with the Peace Islands Institute Boston to build bridges between the Turkish community and other communities in the Greater Boston area.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is revered as the most sacred month of the year by Muslims, who fast from dawn to dusk during this time. This event focused on keeping ties strong with the local community in Revere, promoting understanding and respect for elders, and removing barriers and prejudices against the Islamic faith.

Program:

• 6:30 pm – Rabbi Lior & Burak welcome everyone
• 6:35 pm – Rabbi Lior speaks
• 6:40 pm – Rabbi Lior invites the president of Jack Satter House
• 6:45 pm – Burak welcomes everyone and speaks about Ramadan
• 6:50–7:05 pm – Jack Satter House tenants' chorus performs, followed by the weekend school students

The event took place on April 4th from 6:00–8:30 pm at Jack Satter House, 420 Revere Beach Boulevard, and included opening remarks, prayers, live music, and traditional Turkish food. The event was free and open to everyone.
