Mimouna marks the end of the Passover and returns to eating chameitz (leavened bread and other food prohibited on Passover). It is a unique Moroccan tradition which was an act of peace and cooperation. Some Muslim neighbors used to buy the chameitz from their Jewish neighbors and sell it back to their neighbors again at the end of the Passover\, showing the harmony between them. This year\, it coincides with Ramadan\, on April 13th. \nThe event is not only open to Jewish and Muslim neighbors but open to everyone as a sign of peace and harmony in our community. Please join us on that momentous night!

DESCRIPTION:On 02/06/2023 early Monday morning\, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey\, causing widespread destruction and leaving hundreds of thousands of people in need. The disaster hit in the middle of a cold winter\, making the situation even direr for those affected. Turkish Cultural Center\, Boston Dialogue Foundation\, and Peace Islands Institute are organizing an interfaith prayer vigil for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria\, on Sunday\, February 12th at 6 pm. The program will last for 1.5 hours and each of the participants listed in the flyer will offer a prayer. DESCRIPTION:Turkey and Syria have been hit by two successive earthquakes on February 6th. More than 40\,000 individuals are estimated to have lost their lives and the death toll continues to grow as search-and-rescue efforts reach new areas on the ground. Thousands of collapsed buildings\, inadequate resources\, and freezing weather conditions complicate rescue efforts. The loss of human life is immense and survivors will need incredible support in the coming weeks and months. \nWe have numerous friends whose families have been directly affected. Some still await rescue and humanitarian assistance several days after the disaster. They represent a few of the tens of thousands who lost their families\, friends\, and homes in the blink of an eye. The need for in-kind and financial donations will grow as survivors begin to rebuild their lives. \nIn light of this tragedy\, we invite you to join us on Saturday (March 11th) at 3pm for a community gathering at the Turkish Cultural Center in Revere (500 Revere St. Revere\, MA). Creating a space for grieving\, consolation\, and deliberation is paramount in this time of great need. DESCRIPTION:Peace Islands Institute Boston thought of the talk series as a venue to cultivate friendship and strengthen civic dialogue among the many civil communities. \nThe speakers of the talk series include prominent government\, elected\, corporate and media officials\, religious leaders\, academics\, diplomats\, and other civic leaders and they will share their viewpoints and experiences on important issues facing our local communities. \nThese talk series provide information on important public\, intercultural issues and help to build ever-lasting and strong relationships among the diverse ethnic communities in the greater Boston area. Peace Islands Institute Boston aims to encourage scholarly and intellectual researches and discussions on peace building\, social conflicts\, dialogue\, and education. Scholarly works lay the foundations for better communication and understanding. These conferences investigates the development and application of values\, knowledge and skills that promote and reinforce beneficial and long-lasting intercultural relations at the individual\, group\, organization\, and community levels.

DESCRIPTION:Through its member organizations\, Peace Islands Institute strives to foster environments of mutual respect and social harmony in communities. It does this by educating people about different faiths and cultures\, condemning violence and terror\, and creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration among people from diverse backgrounds. We believe that these issues touch us all\, no matter where we are in the world and hope to raise awareness around them in order to better understand the challenges we face in societies today. \nPeaceful and harmonious coexistence is the ultimate ideal that unites all of humanity. In an increasingly globalized society\, it is important to shift the discourse away from the things that divide\, and instead focusing on our shared goal of peace and combating the prejudices that breed fear and violence. \nWe embrace democracy and democratic values such as freedom of expression\, freedom of religion\, rule of law and equal opportunity. It is our hope that in focusing on the values that we share\, rather than on our disagreements\, we can help to foster a deeper understanding and a more truly harmonious society.
